We had somehow evaded the weather all day, but it finally caught up to us as we were sitting in a canal-side bar somewhere in Jordaan, listening to old records after a day of exploring, each our pint of Amstel on the table. The first flash of lightning made the entire sky light up, and it only got worse from there.

Tomorrow is the big day. The day that I head out on a trip I’ve been putting off and putting off since I was 16 years old. Tomorrow, Jesper and I head down to Amsterdam, from where we’ll start our interrail journey!

Another thing I’ve been putting off for years is travel writing. I’ve loved writing for about as long as I’ve wanted to interrail, and I’ve always loved reading about travels (both real and imaginary), but even though I wanted to I just never took the time to learn how to write about it myself. This trip will be my first attempt. I’ll be updating this blog place by place we go so long as I have time and opportunity - so if you want to follow the journey, here’s where!
